Alexa Meade

Alexa Meade’s art is about the double-take you do while you’re trying to figure out exactly how she created what you’re seeing.  Via acrylic paint and live models, Alexa has hybridized the process of perception by using various mediums to create a single plane of existence.  The 3D becomes 2D, and visa versa, and all of a sudden, the two combine in a way that tricks your eyes and mind – maybe we should call this 2.5D.  Alexa is represented by Irvine Contemporary in DC, where she previously worked as a press staffer on the Obama campaign, before becoming obsessed with the ways source materials, including people, can be “repackaged” and turned into entirely new commentaries.
