Apenest.com

Apenest is one of our favorite creative outlets, and is actually the site that introduced us to the amazing illustration work of Bill Dunlap. Apenest.com is an “experimental publishing / printmaking project” led by Cody Hoyt and Brian Willmont.  They create art for prints, and also manage a great project in which they invite their favorite artists to contribute a piece for their annual publication.  In addition to creating awesome original works, the coalescing of a dedicated range of styles is what we appreciate most, not to mention their advertising-free methods. Apenest highlights work they love, or are working on themselves, and as they say, “We are artists first and foremost, and the goal of this project is creativity and experimentation.  Not a “lifestyle” or a vehicle for advertisements.”

We love the model, as we feel it reflects a goal of ours – to exist as a catalyst for creative interaction, education, and output, while inhabiting a space that doesn’t use someone else’s shitty advertisements to prosthelytize a generation of lemmings.
