Chris Chapell’s paintings are amazingly emotive. The convey the energy of the scene, even if there’s no one in it. Hailing from Austin, TX, he’s shown at Austin Figurative Gallery, amongst many. Chris’ work graced our eyes through the web of creative people we’ve been spinning, and we’re so glad it did.
His paintings of Austin capture history while imparting the flow and ambiance a photo never could. When you take into account that he worked as an animator on A Scanner Darkly, it all makes a little more sense. He’s apt and we love his figurative adaptations; even the physical confines of things are up for interpretation.
