Create & Destroy : The Art of Charlie Owens

I saw a sticker by Charlie Owens on a light post in Chicago…just another reminder to keep my eyes open.  IPMM is 100% in favor of public art, and salutes those of you who take a marker, sticker, or spray can to public spaces. We paid for that light post, we can paint on it if we want.  It’s always been funny to me how public property and spaces are revered, as if we, the public, had no claim to them.  If we have no say as far as the ways we use public spaces, then cities might as well be private business’. Enough of my tirade…

In any event, Charlie Owens has a sharp graphic style.  It feels like the confluence of comic books and street art. I was glad to have spotted one of his contributions to public art, and have immensely enjoyed his decks, installations, and prints – all of which you can find on his site.
