Erykah Badu and Emek

Published on February 10, 2009

When it comes to Erykah Badu, most of us first learned of her when she released “Tyrone,” and personnally, I think her content has really gotten much better. Jay Dee (RIP) has supplied her with delicious beats, and her poke-society-in-the-eye approach makes my day………..repeatedly.

Her latest album, New Amerykah, is awesome for a plethora (“I would not want someone to use the word plethora, if they did not know what a plethora was”) of reasons – conscious lyrics, a steady supply of dope beats, and top notch album art.

Which brings me to the man who has taken care of much of Erykah’s art, “the thinking man’s poster artist,” Emek. Emek is famous for his skeleton figures, a la The Grateful Dead, and sells out of his limited edition prints before you can refresh the browser.

To see other images Emek has provided for Erykah, check this, it really showcases Emek’s versatility, as well as hisn understanding of the people he is making art for: http://emek.net/posters/b/badu_covers_2008.html
