Jacques De Beaufort

Jacques De Beaufort is another awesome example of an artist finding our site and submitting their work. Jacques’ art couldn’t fit more perfectly into our curatorial lattice of surrealism, making instances like these feel supportive of what we’re trying to do here at IPMM.

As far as descriptors of this particular artist, the first thing that came to mind, was that Jacques work feels like Dali took peyote in New Mexico, met an African Carlos Castaneda, and got out his paint and canvas. The intensity of each piece draws you in while it repels you, kind of like a car crash, or one of those fast-paced animations made to simulate the end of one’s life.  Look too long and you might get the sense that you too took peyote – as if wading through mental abstractions akin to Elmer’s glue.
