Jonny Wan’s symmetrical designs and typography are some of my favorite stuff I’ve come across lately. He’s clearly developed a style all-his-own, and has been featured in magazines, recognizing his iconic approach. I don’t know why symmetry is so pleasing, but when meshed with urban content, and tied to the street, if only through suggestion, it feels more mine. Artists are anthropologists, even though most of them might run from that description. The reality is that artists reflect their setting and their experiences, and when you’re as talented as Jonny Wan, that’s somewhat easier to convey.
