Lateefa Bint Maktoum

Nafas Art Magazine often turns us on to great artwork coming out of The Middle East.  We love how every spot on the globe has its own distinct cultural aesthetic, making its mark on the overall landscape, and separating itself not by exclusivity, but by cultural contribution.  This happens in art as well as music, where certain elements of creative output instantly key us in to the fact that this art comes from that particular place.  Lateefa Bint Maktoum’s work exudes the specificity of her location, and communicates ingenuity that we’re intensely attracted to.  Her progression as an artist has seen her work through various mediums, and even combine them, as she does with the pieces we’ve posted here.

Lateefa is the Founder of Tashkeel, ‘a public studio providing specialist facilities for artists and designers living and working in the UAE.”   She’s participated in or helped organize various exhibitions throughout the United Arab Emirates, helping draw attention to the vast crop of incredible artists so often ignored by the global art community.
