Natalia Revilla’s work exists in multiple planes, as she combines mediums to achieve spooky results. An early 80′s baby from Lima, Peru, the work certainly contains an element of folklore, of questions asked between shadow and light. her work has show in South America, Europe and the USA, proving the inescapable, albeit latent potency of the way she blends photo into charcoal, at once creating a reality that exists somewhere between this world and another. She also has created some intriguing installations, as well as sketches with charcoal mostly.
The series we’re featuring on IPMM is entitled “Dias Grises” which translates to, “Gray Days.” It’s definitely an apt description, as we plan to spend an extended period of time gazing into each of these images. It’s amazing to us how reality can be shaped to various degrees, creating entirely new shades of ideas, moments we otherwise never could have lived. Much love to PapaIssue for cluing us in to this incredible artist.
