Peter Phillips
The abstract trappings of Peter Phillips’ work entail the type of feeling you get when you do a double-take or when you have Deja Vu. It’s almost as if the image changes the longer you look at it. The great thing about abstract art, is that the image really does mutate. Although we know that the physical image remains the same regardless of how long and from what angles we interpret it, it’s art like this that proves that as the viewer, we are an active participant…even if we loathe something. His paintings are balanced, and the details that seem to be just beyond perception are as interesting to us as the content of the ink. As a matter of fact, we’re gonna head over to his website…again.
In his own words:
“In my printwork I endeavour to expand and extrude from the drawing process, through exploring the narrative realms and sensory rich properties of the process, creating the volumes and light effects found in both figurative and abstract representation. Through investigating the use of diverse materials and formats – I use print as a conceptual language for exploring the breadth of its expression and potential.”
