Shepard Fairey Hits Up Grand Ave in Chicago : Photos

We’re always excited to see art gracing our streets.  Windows boarded up, blank underpasses painted white.  All kinds of great public spaces clamor silently for creativity to bless otherwise decrepit and unused corners of our cities.  We won’t jump directly onto our street art soapbox at the moment, but you get the point – we don’t consider this illegal, and we encourage you to do the same.

Shepard Fairey needs no introduction, unless you’ve been in a coma for 5 years, in which case, welcome back!  If you didn’t know about him before then, we understand, but his presence in the modern art world puts the word “ubiquitous” to the test at this point. His iconic and clean style is both political and social in scope, and whether you agree with the platform or not, we tend to admire artists who are up-front about their views. IPMM Photographer Greg Kohlhagen as able to snap some shots of Fairey’s latest contribution to Chicago, and here they are….
