Bok Bok – Southside EP

Bok Bok is a testament to the future of bass-driven-everything. This 5 track EP is definitely more of a DJ’s dream than a beat-lover’s, but it still drops and bangs.  Fuzzy nintendo future sounds meld with more typically industrial hues known in the British electronic scene.  Metallic whiplashes inlay themselves among what feels like breakbeat played at a slower rpm, and the air pump release on the opening track “Charisma Theme,” add texture worth hearing.  The strength in this EP is its punch. At times it settles into repetition (which you’ll have no problem with at 2am), just make sure you’re in it during “Silo Pass” and “Look Dub” – clinchers in our mind. Bok Bok is on Night Slugs, a label with a lot of tunes worth discovering.
