Misha Gordin

Misha Gordin’s work is spellbinding.  A testament to the dark room, Misha is known to be meticulous about creating these incredible images, which he sketches ahead of time. With intent much different than a photographers’, Misha is dedicated to using realism as a way to get to the surreal.  He’s not capturing a moment, he’s creating one (most of which maintain an eery Jodorowsky-esque hue, truly setting the work above and beyond.)

It’s both deeply conceptual and painstakingly crafted, putting an opaque foot forward and requiring a rich interaction.  Dark, and full of contrast, the work has a sharpness that feels like someone dialoguing in through dreams; as if processing half-thoughts through creation, rendering stunningly impressive photographs. Spend some time with these, reality will greet you again in a few minutes.
