Mo Kolours – EP1: Drum Talking

This incredible EP draws on an impeccable combination of influences, cultures, and musical philosophies. The Island-African/English beatmaker, Mo Kolours is on One Handed Music, and as of this very second, we’ll be watching them both very closely. An amazing fusion occurs on this record; the African beats and electronic textures imparted by Mo Kolours’ hiphop tendencies, create the perfect effect as those elements blend with the rest.  In the end, each track is infused with a simple dub-reggae approach to lyrics and rhythm, which maintains continuity amidst the varied influences evident on this release. The melodies make it feel the way all other island music feels – carefree and joyous, as the polyrhythmic percussion builds the trance these tunes soon impart. The result is a unique blend that requires you to move. Bottom line, IPMM has found a favorite.

This is yet another title mined from the chock-full pages of OMGVinyl.com, who time after time, point us in the direction of great records. They are an ally and we thank them. Order up that vinyl…
