There’s no doubt about it, Richard Thompson is the greatest musician too many people have still have never heard of. With a career that spans over 40 years, Richard is one of the greatest songwriters of all time, and in my humble opinion, the greatest guitarist ever. With a wealth of music to discover, it’s easy to throw a stone and find his work, but be sure to hunt down a guide who can properly introduce you to the wide spectrum that is his recording history.
On February 5th, The Richard Thompson Trio played a special set at Joe’s Pub in NYC to commemorate the release of their new album, “Electric,” which was released on that day. The trio, which is comprised of Richard, drummer Michael Jerome, and bassist Taras Prodaniuk ripped through a fair chunk of the new release while delivering a handful of Thompson classics. We were on hand to capture some photos of the night, which are posted below for your enjoyment.
