Soul Power is a concert documentary that you can’t miss. In 1974, a 3-Day Festival was organized in Zaire, and occurred in conjunction with the Rumble in Jungle Heavyweight Fight, between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. There’s tons of footage from the preparation for the festival, as well as live concert footage, interviews with performers, and an overall inside look at the happenings surrounding the event.
The film includes performances from James Brown, Celia Cruz and The Fania All-Stars, B.B. King, Miriam Makeba and many more. This flick makes you feel like a fly on the wall throughout the 3-days, and the music itself is amazing; not to mention the general confluence of all these great people, who came together to make the festival a success. Muhammad Ali lets loose some pretty indispensable quotes too…
