Rarely do companies make these types of intentional investments in community and creativity, which is why IPaintMyMind was so thrilled to work with Discover Financial Services or their community space in Chatham on Chicago’s south side. The directive was to feature art by local black artists and/or art that reflected the black experience and a more representative aesthetic. Since Chatham is a majority black neighborhood and many of the folks working there live in the neighborhood, making sure the art was reflective of the community was vital – exactly the type of curation and project we love to be a part of!
We ended up featuring artwork by Bria Corranda, Damon Locks, and Kat Sampson, which include beautiful depictions of black performers, black communities on the south side, and black and latino artists. We pride ourselves on being able to curate contextual options for every client, and this is a perfect example of how intentional curation can create an incredible container for great work.

We worked with the Discover’s community team to create a custom art plan for them, in which we rotate local art through their space refreshing the art on display every 12 months. We’re able to customize art rotation plans so that you can refresh it as quickly as every 3 months, depending on the space and goals.
This way we think about the value the art we curate for you is driving as far as engagement, impressions, and creating a culture in which employees know you value the overall experience and vibe, as it relates to getting important work done! Art isn’t about vanity, it’s about engaging employees and customers in a way that creates camaraderie, pride in the project, and a desire to come together to make a difference. What’s more, with a company like Discover who was so focused on curating for their community, we were able to really deliver a custom experience, and we always aim to do that for our art rental clients, so you create your own sense of place, space, and culture.
We worked with the Discover team to provide various rounds of curation options, then figured out what art rotation interval made sense for them, and scheduled the installation of the artwork – that’s it! As the client, all Discover had to do was select the art they wanted in the space from the options we provided, and within 30 days, we showed up, and installed 30+ pieces of art in under 3 hrs.
