IPaintMyMind x adidas Originals: Art for Retail That Gives Back Featuring Bee Harris
It’s been such a pleasure to work with adidas Originals over the years to launch and activate their fantastic flagship store on Milwaukee Ave in Chicago with great local art. We’ve been able to curate work by a wide variety of local artists including Sam Kirk, Ethan D’Ercole, Kate Lewis, and many more.
Despite the state of the world, we were obviously thrilled to continue building on our partnership with adidas Originals, especially because the artist we’re featuring was supposed to have their work in the store last March when things went wonky.
That artist is none other than Bee Harris. We’ve been in touch with Bee for a few years now, recently acquiring more of her art prints as part of the continued expansion of the IPaintMyMind Permanent Print Collection. She’s a Chicagoan who just moved to North Carolina, and we’re so happy to bring her bold, colorful work to the adidas Originals store.
We also look forward to expanding on our work with Bee to create more content for our Chicago Public Schools partners, helping our students visualize the process from the inspiration in her head to the finished art print.
And if you haven’t seen it, check out the exclusive interview we did with Bee Harris a while back – it’s a great look into her creative process and perspective.
The timing of this art rental rotation at adidas is perfect because the Milwaukee Avenue location is currently all tricked out with the latest IVY PARK release by Beyonce (pictured below).
We are also happy to say that adidas has taken a ton of care to ensure increased open spaces in the store and include regular sanitization, to ensure safety when folks visit. For customers to be able to walk into such an incredible retail experience, despite Covid-19, and then visit the featured wall with Bee Harris’ art prints, adidas has fostered a really great connection with their brand.
When you add in the Beyonce vibes, we couldn’t be more proud of curating art that reflects the way adidas has set itself apart. In aligning with such a powerhouse black woman creative in Beyonce, adidas makes it clear that they wear their values on their sleeve, just like IPaintMyMind does.
The fact that we got to add Bee Harris’ powerful art prints reflecting the beauty, pride, and power of the black experience to the already fly IVY PARK release scheduled at the adidas store has us feeling like a pair of brand new kicks.
