IPaintMyMind’s Shared Walls Program Transforms Two Chicago Park District Fieldhouses
2014 has been an exciting one for us at IPaintMyMind. With the growth of our Shared Wallsâ„¢ program and the expansion of our programming at the gallery, we’ve seen the potential for this online arts community to live and breathe in the real world in ways that truly makes art accessible to everyone. We thank everyone who has supported us throughout the process, and we look forward to transforming spaces with art for years to come.
One of our most recent supporters has been the Chicago Park District. As part of Night Out In The Parks, IPaintMyMind was selected as a grant recipient to help fund two Shared Walls exhibitions at select park district locations on Chicago’s South Side. After scouting various locations, we were happy to identify Hamilton Park (Englewood) and Davis Square Park (Back Of The Yards) as parks that would truly benefit from some art & photography that was not only reflective of the community, but aesthetically pleasing, uplifting, and contextual.
As such we selected art prints by Fugscreens & Laurent Varlet for Hamilton Park, with a focus on sports & namely basketball, which is a major activity in each of the parks adjacent gymnasiums. For Davis Square Park where soccer is played on various fields as well as indoors, we selected soccer inspired photography by Abel Arciniega who is currently not only a contributing photographer for IPMM’s editorial efforts, but is also the official photographer of the Chicago Fire soccer team.
