The intricacy of Elizabeth Vuong’s work instantly caught our eye. Negative space balances out vibrant junctions of color, line, and energy. Whether her black and white pen illustrations, where the focus is the line work, to her colorful pieces that emphasize nature, it’s all successful. Liz’s ability to render these incredible birds with such perfect sense of composition and anatomy. Whether a bird leaning to its left to better visit with a flower or a cluster of mushrooms that create the scenery, the detail is all breathtaking. You could really look at these for a very long time. Liz Vuong’s work, although uber-detailed and specific in its scope, you feel like she could bring life to a host of subjects. We for one would be thrilled to see what she might do with a larger forest scene or even depicting some of our friends that live below sea level.

Regardless of where she goes from here, there;s talent in her hands and perspective radiating from her ideas. Give her portfolio a thorough perusal, she’s got the goods. We found Liz via Twitter, a curation tool in and of itself. She’s from Tulsa, Oklahoma, went to The School of The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA, in conjunction with Tufts University. She now resides in Chicago where she creates these vivid pen and ink illustrations, and we’re very excited to have connected.
