Photo Review: Records and Transcripts – IPaintMyMind Gallery @ Green Exchange
What a fun night. After months of planning what we hoped would be an extremely unique art show, Sonny, Damon, and myself were all thrilled with how things came together. Thinking about how much these guys have created over the years, one could really curate in various directions. That being said, we intended to show that the images and sounds are directly related, while showing just how prolific these two gentlemen have been with respect to creating album covers, posters, and prints for musicians all over the world. They’re great dudes and we had a blast putting it together.
We flew Sonny in from Las Vegas, hung the show on Tuesday and Wednesday, ordered perfect weather for him, and enjoyed Thursday night. Thanks to everyone who came out to support. Records and Transcripts is open for viewing through the end of August.
We’d also be remiss without mentioning that there are Exclusive Editions by both artists available as part of this show, which will soon be added to the IPMM Online Shop.
The first is “Reflection” by Sonny Kay. This piece was printed in an open edition on chromelux board (glossy finish). It looks spectacular, measures 24×29, and is just $400.
The second is “Return the Tides” by Damon Locks. This piece was printed in an open edition on chromelux board (glossy finish). Again, way cooler than a regular print, measuring 12×24 just like the gatefold LP cover it was adapted from. It’s just $250.
