The 22/23 Shared Walls Program Application is LIVE!
Calling all teachers, principals, and administrators! The IPMM 2022/23 Shared Walls Program application is officially LIVE! Get your application in early to ensure you get a spot in the next calendar year of Shared Walls programming.
Remember, the first year of our Shared Walls program is FREE for all CPS schools, but we have limited slots available for our fully funded partner schools. (If you are applying as a charter or private school, we’ll work with you to discuss funding options.)

What’s Included in Shared Walls 2022/23?
Shared Walls is our all-inclusive option for our school partners, including a comprehensive Arts Education Curriculum, virtual or in-person Artist Talks and Workshops, art supplies, year-round support from our team, and a 12-15 piece Art Gallery to hang in your school’s hallways. Plus, you’ll get exclusive digital access to our Permanent Collection of over 1,500 pieces of amazing art from working artists to use during class.

The Arts Education Curriculum is jam-packed with lesson plans and activities to go along with your Art Gallery and culminates in your students creating and hanging an Art Gallery of their own!
This is because the entire Shared Walls journey is built off of our See, Think, Do pathway for creative activation. We believe that when students have access and exposure to art, see themselves represented in art and by working artists, and are given space to think about art, they’ll end up creating artwork of their own. Access to art is empowering and liberating, and we believe that it’s an essential part of a high-quality education.
Why Is Shared Walls Free for CPS Schools in Year 1?
As part of our commitment to equity and access regardless of income, IPMM has always made our programming free for CPS schools in Year 1. When we evaluate property tax bases and the history of racism in Chicago, it is clear which communities and schools have seen regular investment, and which have been divested from and underestimated for decades. CPS schools receive inadequate arts funding across the board, but schools in majority Black and Latinx neighborhoods bear the brunt of the underfunding.

We’ve always believed that by making our programming free in Year 1, we’ll maximize the amount of students and teachers who can access our programming. Since starting out, we’ve worked with over 100 CPS schools in over 65 neighborhoods, including a CPS partner in every ward of the city.
